Day 1 Depart Newark / JFK to Rome
Day 2 Arrive in Rome for a panoramic tour, stopping at the Roman Forum and Coliseum before continuing to St. John Lateran (the original Vatican), and the Holy Steps
Day 3 Today we visit Vatican City, seeing St. Peter's Basilica, Bernini's Columns, Michelangelo's "Pieta," Vatican Museum and the magnificent Sistine Chapel before transferring through the Tuscan and Umbrian countryside to Assisi
Day 4 We make our way as pilgrims to the Basilicas of St. Francis, St. Clare and St. Mary of the Angels, pay homage at St. Francis' tomb and the San Damiano Cross and tour the medieval town of Assisi, including its ancient temple and town square
Day 5 Pilgrimage to Porziuncola, the hermitage site where Francis spent his time communing with nature, visiting his many secluded sanctuaries. Free afternoon
Day 6 Optional trip to Florence to see David, Punta Vecchio, Duomo and, time permitting, the Fra Angelicos or free day in Assisi
Day 7 Depart for Rome. We visit St. Mary Major (our 3rd of Rome's 4 major basilicas) before continuing to our hotel. Free afternoon in Rome to see St. Paul Outside the Walls (the 4th major basilica, where St. Paul is buried) and the Spanish Steps and to shop along Via Venetto, Rome's Fifth Avenue. Evening dinner and gelato at Trevi Fountain.
Day 8 Return to Newark/JFK from Rome
October 7th - 14th, 2010 - Starting at $2,395, per person, plus taxes. Save $100 by signing up more than 90 days in advance. Single rooms are available for an additional charge.
